Contract Journal, Best Places to Work in Construction

We appreciate you might like to know what sort of questions we will ask in the employer and employee surveys, so this is a quick guide. All answers will remain confidential, and employee comments will be completely anonymous.

Every company that successfully completes the entry process and submits the required number of entries, will receive an in-depth employee satisfaction survey based on results from their own company. The completion rate is very important as it will contribute to your organisation’s overall score, so please forward this email onto your colleagues.

To see an example of your company analysis should you reach the benchmark number of entries, please click here.

 We’ll ask employers…..

  • about the firm’s turnover (GBP)
  • their pre-tax profit in the last financial year
  • the percentage of employees who have been with the company for more than ten years
  •  the number leaving within the last twelve months
  • percentage of new recruits which are graduates or apprentices
  • recruitment plans for the coming year
  • average training investment per employee
  • the average number of days absence
  • whether you hold Investors in People accreditation
  • and the benefits offered to employees.

We will ask what industry sectors the company operates in, as well as whether the firm has any values and a breakdown of the workforce by gender, ethnic origin and age.

We'll ask employees...

  • the employee benefits offered by the organisation they work for
  • the number of hours they work in an average week
  • how long they have been with the company
  • whether they intend to change jobs in the next 12 months

We also ask employees about the values and opinions associated with working for the organisation, and some detail about themselves in terms of gender, age, job status and salary.
